Political system

China follows a socialist system under a people's democratic dictatorship. Its fundamental political system is the system of people's congresses; basic political systems include the system of multiparty cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the system of regional ethnic autonomy, and the system of grassroots self-governance. The National People's Congress is the highest organ of state power, and the State Council is the highest state administrative organ.
